Civil War Days . . .

The Carberry 5th grade classes ventured out into the blustery chill to visit the Civil War re-enactment being held at the Eagle Island State Park. Other than the extreme cold, it was very fascinating - the kids have been really studying the "War Between the States" and could answer most of the questions they were asked. Thank you to all of the sponsors and participants who provided such a neat, realistic learning experience!

A Day at the Races . . .

Aaron and I had free passes to the horse races today at the Gem County Fairgrounds - and despite the fact that I have oh - at least half a million things to do - we went up and watched several races. It has probably been about 20 years since I have been to the races!! This is fairgrounds racing and pretty casual compared to the racing I grew up with in Boise! You can get alot closer to the paddock and the starting gates here and I had fun, as you can see, taking pictures!!

Choir Field Trip

Have I ever mentioned that I love my job? I really do - not only do I love books and working at the library, but I love the flexibility it allows me to do things with my kids! Monday, I took off an hour early to ride the bus around town with Aaron's school choir to visit the elederly at a couple of assisted living facilities. As usual the choir (70 kids strong this year) was outstanding - their instructor is the neatest gal and works so hard with them. The residents really enjoyed the music and visiting with and hugging their guests as well. After we got back to the school, the kids celebrated the end of the year with a pizza party - yummy!

Precious . . .

Mom managed to snap this simply adorable photo of Elizabeth hunthing eggs! Her aunt Kaitlyn and cousin Aaron got pretty creative hiding them. Kaitlyn was pussy-footing around trying not to smash the phlox while tring to show Elizabeth the egg. Ha! Elizabeth had no such qualms and just waded right on in after the egg!

It's Easter!! Isn't It?

Since Paul was still out of town and my brother Bob had to make work-related run to Oregon, we decided to postpone Easter until we could all be together to enjoy the day. Boy did we luck out! The weather was GORGEOUS for us (it was dark, windy and cold on Easter day)! Lots of good food and Elizabeth provided entertainment - she learned what those holes in the olives are REALLY for! My mom makes the BEST deserts - as you can see from the picture of me - LOL.

Spring Has Sprung

Heading back in from collecting the eggs this afternoon I noticed that one of our fruit trees is just about ready to bloom! I do wish it would have waited a week or two though as we are still having very frosty nights! Poor fruit doesn't stand a chance against the chill or the spring bouts of hail, wind and heavy rain!!

Carberry Kid's Choir

This is Aaron's second year in the Carberry Kid's Choir at school. These kids always sound SO good! I hope that they all go on to join the Jr. High choir!!! Ther closing number was "I Don't Want to Grow Up" from Peter Pan and it was just the best!

Spring Break at the Bruneau Sand Dunes

Aaron always looks forward to his spring break trips with grandma and grandpa. This year they ventured over to Eastern Idaho to stay at the Bruneau Sand Dunes state park. They actually had pretty good weather (unlike this last week - brr) and enjoyed a visit from friends, kite flying, walking the dunes and playing in the sand, reading and an educational evening of star gazing at the park's observatory.

Clogging at Cherry Glenn Nursing Home

The beginning Gem Cloggers classes spent their friend Saturday of spring breaking honoring residents of the Cherry Glenn Nursing Home which is right by the dance studio with a performance. It is always so much fun to watch the kids dance!

5th Grade Music Program

Aaron had several special roles in the program as well as a solo in the closing number "Coming To America" (a Neil Diamond song that I LOVE)
